Scientists from various disciplines are conducting research on the topics Internet and Democracy at the DIID:

• How is digitization changing communication in different areas of society?
• How can online applications be used and designed to enhance democratic participation and collaborative decision-making?
• How can participatory online communication be structured, analyzed and protected against manipulation?
• Which democratically destructive forces are at work and how can conflicts be resolved online?
