Prof. Dr. Michael Baurmann ist Senior-Professor für Soziologie an der HHU-Düsseldorf. Zuvor hatte er seit 1997 einen Lehrstuhl für Soziologie in Düsseldorf inne. Seine Forschungsgebiete sind Allgemeine Soziologie, Theorien sozialer Kooperation und Vertrauen sowie Soziale Erkenntnistheorie.

Am DIID gilt sein Interesse der Entwicklung innovativer Konzepte für interaktive, dialogbasierte Online-Partizipationsverfahren.
